RESTORATION -JUNE 1926 Mineola Long Island Dog show- RARE- Chow entry photo

Let me whisk you back in time to the Mineola Dog show , June 1926. A rare Chow time capsule indeed!!  To an archivist, there is nothing quite so heartpounding as taking a faded moment in time, and bringing it to life through restoration.  I felt a bit like Marty McFly in the movie Back to the Future when his family  reappeared back into existance on the snapshot he was carrying.  What was barely a hint of a dog show scene with “possible” chows in it, emerged through my Photoshop restoration as people and dogs I recognized!!    You can almost feel the energy and hear the voices the photo came up so clear!

ABOVE The back of this 8×10 very faded press photo had this text on it.   I’m not sure they got the dog or the handler name correct but am checking into it.  The newspaper clipping I found( also below) shows the main winners from that all breed show.  The woman receiving the ribbon looks very much like Mrs Waller of Sum Chows

The woman standing behind the ring ropes to the left of the woman with the big white hat I am pretty sure is the legendary Mrs David Wagstaff of Ledgelands kennels.   Her dogs were also entered that day

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
