The Chow Chow was not only a popular companion and show dog from the early 1900’s through the 1940’s, they were considered a status symbol by cinema stars, politicians, royalty and socialites . The breed graced the covers of many magazines ranging from Life Magazine to dog show publications such as Dog World and Dog News. Celebrity figures often were photographed with their own companion chows for that coveted cover space
