THE LION THAT WASN'T

The Lion That Wasn’t, 1950 Zinger, Oleg, FRONT cover ~Chinarose collection

This charmer is one of my most treasured children’s books featuring chows.  The pages are hard cardboard and each illustration is masterfully rendered with a sense of humor that shows the true essence of chow attitude and temperament.

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.

      Cecilia,
Am cleaning out my mother’s attic today and came across many of my childhood books including this one!

Must have had it when I was about 5 years old as I came across Shirley Temple’s Favorite Tales of Long Ago that was gifted to me dated 7/30/1960.
I am now 66 so the book has been in our possession at least 61 years…

So funny how I still remember the chow with the purple tongue all these years.

My sister had the companion book Animals at Home if interested in that too.

      Best,
      Andrea Harmon
