1920 Benched Dog Show snapshot-RARE – 3 chows-possibly Mrs Waller of Sum Chows

CIRCA 1920’s – This incredible original rare photo came from a home snapshot that I purchased many years ago. It will always remain among my favorite chow images from this era.  After studying images of this woman for a long time, I am fairly convinced this is Mrs Virginia Waller of Sum Chows sitting with her chows on the dog show bench. She was one of a kind, extremely classy in her dressing and one of the few women in her age group exhibiting chows at the time. See one of my photos with a positive ID of Mrs Waller below

If this is indeed Mrs Waller, I would guess the black chow to be her Ch. Hok Lo Foo.  Black chows were are rarity in this timeframe and Hok Lo Foo was a standout.  One can never be certain this is Virginia Waller but the chances are good that this could be her.

A very rare original photo in my personal collection. This was taken at the Westminster Kennel Club show in 1919 after Virginia Waller breeder/owner won the breed with her stunning black dog.

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
