Vintage Chow Valentine greetings

chow boy valentine pre 1920's

Above and below are 2 antique die cut Valentine cards from my own collection.  The one above I purchased at an antique store about 20 years ago and at the time was a VERY expensive price.  But you know when you FALL IN LOVE…you just can’t resist.   It turned out to be a very sound purchase as I have not seen anything like it since.  It is one of the favorite pieces of ephemera in my collection

chow valentine hinged 1920's

This other card above is another rarity in that it is a “mechanical” die cut.   The chow (his tongue is black blue) can stand on all 4’s or when the front is swiveled at the hip grommet, it can stand on it’s hind legs.  I was lucky to find this at a great price a number of years ago .

If any of my readers have pre 1950’s Chow valentine cards or postcards you would like to share on this page please contact me at [email protected]

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
