RESTORATION- Circa 1940 Little girl posing with her Chow Gunga Din

Circa 1940 – Possibly one of the cutest little girl/chow photos in my collection!   Little girl and her chow “Gunga Din” who is wearing both a thermos and back blanket bearing his name.. The beaming smile on this girl and the ringlet curls remind me so much of her contemporary, Shirley Temple.  The  1939 movie “Gunga Din” may very well inspired this theme.     This is a beautiful large 8×10 press photo so the occasion must have been an important one.

The girl wears a badge with a hot air balloon that says  “Schaeffer”   It makes me ponder was this taken at a kids dog show sponsored by the hot air balloon company?  Below I posted closeups of the thermos and the blanket/sash which looks embroidered.  Also the badge the girl is wearing.

I wish I could make out the text other than SCHAEFFER on the blowup below

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
