GALLERY – Magazine Covers featuring Chows

The Chow Chow was not only a popular companion and show dog  from the early 1900’s through the 1940’s, they were considered a status symbol by cinema stars, politicians, royalty and  socialites .   The breed graced the covers of many magazines ranging  from Life Magazine to dog show publications such as Dog World and Dog News.   Celebrity figures  often were photographed with their own companion chows for that coveted cover space as well as   ADVERTISEMENTS .

I have a large collection to scan  yet, and welcome any additions from the ChowTales readers.  As always, your name credited for the scan or donation to the archives .

I just acquired a breeder’s pictures and all historical stuff – this breeder is now 92 years old. His wife was involved with OFA of the breed.
So I may have information you might like.
