ANIMAL BEAUTY SHOP 1927

Today I was asked if there were any dog  groomers back in the early days of Chows in America and this wonderful 8×10 photo I have in my private collection immediately came to mind.  The motor on the arm most likely powers an electric clippers…..much like my dremel drill motor I use today.     Using that huge handheld and probably heavy dryer for a chow must have taken forever. As a former professional groomer of 35 years, this is one of my favorite photos in my archives.

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
