RESTORATION – 1922 Ledgeland Red Bluff pictured with Mrs Stackpole

When I first laid eyes on this photo I simply had to purchase it!   It is an original 8×10 high quality photo that had yellowed considerably, with the press notations on the back naming both the elegant woman and the beautiful chow.  The Ledgeland kennel name is LEGENDARY and attached to the family of  Mrs David Wagstaff,  one of our most honored breed pioneers in America.  (see related links below)  The Wagstaffs would house up to 80 top winning/producing chows at a time.

The woman pictured, Mrs. Stackpole I hadn’t run into in my research before but the dog I had seen named in articles listed as Ledgeland’s Red Bluff. Here is an AKC Awards snippet from 1922 that shows that Ledgeland Red and Ledgeland’s Red Bluff are indeed one in the same dog.

I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my research, however many times written history finds a way to "morph" over time. I love your comments and appreciate all feedback, additions and corrections my readers have to offer to help make this a well rounded and accurate archive.
