This photo was hard to resist when it came up for auction. And I did resist for 3 rounds of it being listed and not selling. Finally, I was able to negotiate a wonderful price with the seller and here is the result!
It is so very rare to find images this crisp and professional in the first place of people and their chows, much less photos with men. Most chows of this era were bred and owned by women . The catlike, independent, aloof and protective qualities of the Chow of the day, were considered more for a ladies companion and “automobile dog”, vs a “functional” hunting or utility breed.
The photo was in pristine condition measuring 5×7 and inserted in a presentation portfolio. The photographers’ emblem reads NIELSEN STUDIO Charolette Michigan
