King Zog of Albania posing with 2 dogs including a chow – photo credit and date unknown
This photo came to my attention via Beverley Nilson on Facebook and I tucked it away until I found out more about this man. The chow looks to be almost a “cream” in color. There is much written on King Zog of Albania and here is a small snippet from Wikipedia
Zog I, King of the Albanians – 8 October 1895 – 9 April 1961), born Ahmet Muhtar Zogolli, taking the surname Zogu in 1922, was the leader of Albania from 1922 to 1939. He first served as Prime Minister of Albania (1922–1924), then as President (1925–1928), and finally as the first and only King (1928–1939).

As you commendably aspire to accuracy, I feel that I should point out that the man in this photograph is not Zog, merely someone who resembles him in looks and style, as you will see if you compare their faces closely. I am the author of a biography of the King and have seen many pictures of him.
It so happens that Zog was a dog owner – with a Scottish terrier, a Hungarian sheepdog, and possibly a borzoi – but never a chow so far as a I know.
