This story of crime novelist Jonathan Starr and his North American travels with his wife and chow named “Feng Shui”, came to my attention years ago and I am just now circling back to it! I didn’t want this one to escape making it into the ChowTales Archive or my memory for that matter. Ha!
I have dozens of news clippings from early 1930s newspapers in my collection of this prohibition-era trio on their adventures as they gather material for Mr. Starrs upcoming book entitled “BUS HOBOES”

Sady I have not found any evidence that this book ever came to fruition and if it is out there, I would love to own a copy. The Starrs’ travels took them cross country America and into Canada as well for what looks to be about a year’s span. Everywhere they stopped the, press were there to greet them and meet “Feng Shui” as well as try to tease a tidbit or two out of Jonathan Starr regarding the upcoming novel

I am in love with the “Bonnie and Clyde” style attire which was the fashion of the day and the beautiful chow looks to be a deep red in coloring. The articles state he is a “champion” so I’m still tracking that one down.
I have many more articles to post eventually . Below is tells of “Feng Shui” being the editor of his own “libel proof” periodical because as Mr. Starr states, “You can’t sue a dog”.
