MARGARET PERRY 1930’s actress and her chow

margaret-perry-and-her-chow-1930s-5550The stunning 8×10 original studio photo of actress Margaret Perry with her chow I acquired fairly recently.  It was torn in a few places and had yellowed in blotches but to date this is the only one I have ever seen.   I did some restoration work on it and am excited to now have a print of this on my Celebrity Chow Wall of Fame!!

Margaret Perry is one of two daughters of Antoinette ‘Toni’ Perry, namesake of the Tony Awards for Broadway Theater. Her sister Elaine Perry was a noted Broadway director and producer, who passed away on the family’s Salt Works Ranch, in Colorado, in 1986. Most of Margaret’s work was done on stage in New York and on tour.

Perry first appeared on the stage in 1929 at the age of 16. She made her Broadway debut in 1931 in John van Druten's After All. ~Chinarose Collection

So…..after restoring the first photo I was thinking I had seen this face before and started searching through my volumes of albums of old chow postcards. Sure enough, there she is !!!   Margaret Perry on an equally damaged postcard from the early 1930s wearing what looks to be the same outfit…probably from the same photoshoot with her chow.   I must have put that postcard aside to restore and forgot about it.  Now I have a beautiful set of images to display.
