Circa 1920’s Stud Card for Ch. Yang Fu King

Circa early 1920’s. This is an exciting find of a Stud Card depicting the famous Chow Ch Yang Fu King. These cards were once a popular form of advertising, handed out at shows and given to owners of prospective females to woo them to the virtues of the stud dog. (pre internet dog courting)

Can you imagine this faded and yellowed card surviving in a drawer or a box for almost 100 years without getting thrown out? This top winning dog of the Yang Fu Kennel was the sire of an even more famous dog, Ch. Yang Fu Tang…a Best in Show Record Breaker and holder for many years.

Yang Fu Tang’s pedigree reads like the who’s who of pioneer chowdom, including his imported sire Ch Choonam Brilliantine (the 10,000.00 Chow owned by Mrs Hoover). This upper part of the pedigree are all top notch English producers

The mother’s side is equally impressive with Greenacre Kennel (owned by the actor director E.K. Lincoln ) leading the 4 generations. Lord Cholmondeley  was another “great” who contributed much to those early pedigrees.
