These Illustrations I created show the ideals 100 years apart for the chow. Not all that different other than substance. However we all know what happened to the breed in the span of 100 years in reality (not the ideal)

The snippets from the standard revisions over the course of a few decades really show where we were about head into the breed’s “massive” phase in the 1970’s-80’s

Our current standard made great strides in clarifying many points concerning substance and balance, but once the damage was done, it hands today’s breeder a lot more work to make things right again
