MRS CONDE NAST AND SMOOTH PUPPY 1929

 

What I thought was a very rare find of a smooth chow puppy from 1929, led to a deeper search for information on this woman whos name was on the back of the photo just out of curiosity. There was no drumroll or fanfare to point out this was a high society celebrity….just a name and date.
Here is what I found in a couple of days of Googling my fingers off.

Mrs. Coudert Nast, was the wife of Conde Nast, who bought Vogue, then a small New York society magazine, transforming it into one of America’s premier fashion magazines. He then turned Vanity Fair into a sophisticated general interest publication.  I feel so honored to own this original piece of chow history and want to make sure it is always available for fellow chowists to see here on the site
